Biological Activity

NIBR189 is a potent antagonist of the Epstein-Barr virus-induced gene 2 receptor, also known as EBI2 or GPR183. By blocking receptor activation by its endogenous oxysterol ligands, NIBR189 inhibits downstream G protein-coupled receptor signaling pathways. This target inhibition effectively suppresses oxysterol-driven immune cell migration and chemotaxis, providing a valuable molecular tool for investigating GPR183-mediated cellular positioning and function. FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
