Nafcillin sodium is a narrow-spectrum beta-lactam antibiotic that targets penicillin-binding proteins and reversibly inhibits β-lactamase. By blocking penicillin-binding proteins, nafcillin sodium impairs bacterial cell wall peptidoglycan cross-linking, which disrupts cell wall integrity and leads to osmotic lysis. These downstream effects result in potent bactericidal activity against susceptible Gram-positive bacteria, particularly penicillinase-producing staphylococci, by inhibiting cell wall assembly during active bacterial growth.

- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
Pre-aliquoted for Longevity: Solid-state aliquots offer significantly longer shelf life compared to stock solutions, ensuring maximum stability for every use.
