Biological Activity

Nadolol is a non-selective beta-adrenergic receptor antagonist that targets both beta-1 and beta-2 adrenoceptors. By inhibiting agonist binding to these G-protein coupled receptors, Nadolol suppresses adenylyl cyclase activation and downstream cyclic AMP (cAMP) accumulation. This attenuation of G-protein signaling downregulates protein kinase A (PKA) pathway activity, blunting beta-adrenergic-mediated intracellular signaling and modulating cellular electrophysiological and contractile functions. FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
