Mozavaptan (OPC-31260) is a competitive vasopressin receptor antagonist targeting the V1 receptor (IC50 = 1.2 μM) and V2 receptor (IC50 = 14 nM). By blocking V2 receptors, it inhibits arginine vasopressin-stimulated cAMP accumulation in renal collecting duct cells, impairing aquaporin-2 membrane trafficking. This inhibition promotes aquaresis by markedly increasing free water excretion without significantly affecting electrolyte excretion.

Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
