Biological Activity

MK-2048 is a second-generation integrase inhibitor targeting integrase (IC50 2.6 nM) and INR263K (IC50 1.5 nM). By inhibiting HIV-1 strand transfer activity, it blocks the integration of viral cDNA into the host genome, thereby suppressing viral replication and propagation. MK-2048 demonstrates activity against raltegravir-resistant HIV-1 strains and maintains potency against subtype B and subtype C integrases. [1]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
