Mizagliflozin (KWA 0711) is a potent and selective sodium-glucose cotransporter 1 (SGLT1) inhibitor. By targeting SGLT1 in the intestinal epithelium, it attenuates luminal glucose absorption and increases luminal fluid retention through osmotic mechanisms. This inhibition of intestinal glucose transport promotes gastrointestinal motility and stool softening, providing therapeutic potential for the amelioration of chronic constipation and the regulation of postprandial glucose dynamics.
