Metformin Hydrochloride is a biguanide antihyperglycemic agent that suppresses hepatic gluconeogenesis and improves peripheral insulin sensitivity. It activates AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) in hepatocytes, leading to decreased hepatic glucose production and enhanced peripheral glucose uptake and utilization. Additionally, metformin regulates cellular energy homeostasis, attenuates hyperglycemia, and exerts anti-proliferative effects across various cancer models through MAPK pathway modulation and metabolic regulation. - Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
Pre-aliquoted for Longevity: Solid-state aliquots offer significantly longer shelf life compared to stock solutions, ensuring maximum stability for every use.
