Mequinol (4-Methoxyphenol) is a phenolic depigmentation agent that targets tyrosinase, the rate-limiting enzyme in melanin biosynthesis. By acting as an alternative substrate and competitive inhibitor of tyrosinase, mequinol disrupts enzymatic catalysis within melanocytes and suppresses downstream melanogenesis pathways. Consequently, this biological activity leads to cellular depigmentation, decreased intracellular melanin content, and the inhibition of hyperpigmentation phenotypes. [1]

- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
Pre-aliquoted for Longevity: Solid-state aliquots offer significantly longer shelf life compared to stock solutions, ensuring maximum stability for every use.
