Biological Activity

MDL-800 is a selective allosteric activator of sirtuin 6 (SIRT6) deacetylation over other sirtuins and histone deacetylases. Pharmacological activation of SIRT6 by MDL-800 reduces histone H3 acetylation levels and induces cell cycle arrest. Consequently, this target activation suppresses cancer cell proliferation in hepatocellular carcinoma and non-small cell lung carcinoma models in vitro and in vivo. [1][2]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
