Biological Activity
Lurasidone (SM-13496) is an atypical antipsychotic agent that acts as a potent antagonist at dopamine D2 and serotonin 5-HT2A receptors, as well as 5-HT7 receptors. It also functions as a partial agonist at serotonin 5-HT1A receptors while displaying negligible affinity for histamine H1 and muscarinic M1 receptors. By modulating dopaminergic and serotonergic signaling pathways, lurasidone produces antipsychotic and antidepressant-like behavioral effects in preclinical models. [1]

Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
