Biological Activity

Lomerizine 2HCl (KB-2796) is an L-type and T-type calcium channel blocker. By inhibiting voltage-gated calcium channels, it blocks transmembrane calcium influx into vascular smooth muscle cells and neuronal tissue. This inhibition leads to selective vasodilation of cerebral blood vessels, reduction of vascular resistance, and protection against calcium overload-induced neuronal injury, contributing to its pharmacological profile in cerebrovascular and ocular research.

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
