Biological Activity

LL-37 acetate is an amphipathic, cathelicidin-derived antimicrobial peptide that acts as an innate host defense effector and chemotactic factor. It permeabilizes bacterial inner and outer membranes and neutralizes lipopolysaccharide to exert broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative pathogens. Additionally, LL-37 functions via formyl peptide receptor-like 1 (FPRL1) to recruit neutrophils, monocytes, and T cells, thereby regulating host immune responses and tissue repair.[1][2]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
