Biological Activity
Lipopolysaccharide (LPS) is a bacterial endotoxin and pathogen-associated molecular pattern that functions as an agonist of Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4). Binding to TLR4 activates downstream signaling networks, including the NF-kB and MAPK pathways. This signaling triggers the release of pro-inflammatory cytokines, promotes innate immune responses, and stimulates the secretion of cell migrasomes in immune cells. [1][2]

Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
