Biological Activity

KR-33494 is a small-molecule inhibitor targeting FAS-associated factor 1 (FAF1) to block Fas-mediated apoptotic cell death pathways. By interfering with FAF1 function, KR-33494 inhibits downstream apoptotic signaling cascades and prevents cell death triggered by oxidative stress or ischemic injury. Probe derivatives of KR-33494 facilitate molecular studies of FAF1 binding interactions and death receptor-mediated cell death pathways. [1]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
