JNJ0966 is a selective inhibitor of matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) zymogen activation that prevents the conversion of pro-MMP-9 into its catalytically active form. It exhibits no direct inhibitory effect on the catalytic activity of MMP-1, MMP-2, MMP-3, MMP-9, or MMP-14. By suppressing MMP-9 activation, JNJ0966 inhibits extracellular matrix degradation and cell invasion, demonstrating efficacy in animal models of neuroinflammatory disease. [1]

Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
