Biological Activity

Iso-Steviol is a bioactive diterpenoid derivative possessing antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and cardioprotective properties. It modulates cellular signaling pathways by suppressing nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-kB) activation and reducing reactive oxygen species (ROS) production, leading to downregulated expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines, including TNF-a and IL-6. Downstream, these cellular effects contribute to the attenuation of inflammatory cascades and protection against oxidative injury and cell death. [1]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
