Ipragliflozin (ASP1941) is a potent and highly selective sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor with an IC50 of 7.4 nM for human SGLT2, exhibiting 254-fold selectivity over SGLT1. By inhibiting SGLT2 in renal proximal tubules, it reduces renal glucose reabsorption and promotes urinary glucose excretion. This selective blockade lowers plasma glucose levels without inducing insulin secretion or hypoglycemia in diabetic models.

Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
