Hydroquinone is a melanin synthesis inhibitor that functions as a skin depigmenting agent. It acts primarily by inhibiting tyrosinase, the rate-limiting enzyme in the melanogenesis pathway, thereby blocking the conversion of L-dopa to melanin. Additionally, hydroquinone affects melanosome formation, alters melanocyte organelle structure, and exhibits antioxidant-related cellular toxicity, leading to reduced melanin production and selective melanocyte inhibition.

- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
Pre-aliquoted for Longevity: Solid-state aliquots offer significantly longer shelf life compared to stock solutions, ensuring maximum stability for every use.
