Biological Activity
Homatropine bromide is a muscarinic acetylcholine receptor (mAChR) antagonist that potently inhibits endothelial and vascular smooth muscle muscarinic receptors. By blocking cholinergic activation of muscarinic receptors, it suppresses downstream G-protein-mediated signal transduction, inhibiting intracellular calcium mobilization and smooth muscle contraction. This competitive receptor inhibition effectively attenuates parasympathetic neurotransmission and regulates cholinergic signaling across diverse cardiovascular and peripheral tissue models. [1]

- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).

Pre-aliquoted for Longevity: Solid-state aliquots offer longer shelf life compared to stock solutions.
