Biological Activity

Histamine 2HCl is an endogenous organic nitrogen compound that acts as an agonist targeting histamine H1 and H2 receptors in the mammalian brain. Stimulation of these receptors modulates downstream signaling pathways to regulate neurotransmission, vascular permeability, and gastric acid secretion. Additionally, histamine 2HCl is widely utilized to induce experimental animal models of gastric and intestinal ulcers to study mucosal injury and protection. [1][2]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
