GSK3987 is a dual LXRα and LXRβ agonist that recruits steroid receptor coactivator-1 (SRC-1) to human LXRα and LXRβ with an EC50 of 40 nM. Activation of LXR nuclear receptor signaling increases the expression of ATP-binding cassette transporter A1 (ABCA1) and SREBP-1c. Downstream activation of these transcriptional targets induces cellular cholesterol efflux and promotes triglyceride accumulation, modulating cellular lipid homeostasis.

Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
