Biological Activity
GSK189254A is a potent histamine H3 receptor antagonist exhibiting high affinity for human H3 (pKi 9.59-9.90) and rat H3 (pKi 8.51-9.17). By blocking H3 autoreceptors and heteroreceptors, GSK189254A promotes neurotransmitter release, including acetylcholine, histamine, and dopamine in central brain regions. This receptor blockade modulates neurotransmission pathways, ultimately improving cognitive performance and regulating sleep-wake cycles and body weight in preclinical animal models. [1]

Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
