GSK1838705A is a potent ATP-competitive inhibitor of ALK (IC50 = 0.5 nM), IR (IC50 = 1.6 nM), and IGF-1R (IC50 = 2.0 nM). It blocks ligand-induced receptor autophosphorylation and downstream AKT/mTOR signaling pathways, effectively inhibiting cell proliferation in solid and hematologic tumor models. Furthermore, GSK1838705A suppresses ALK activity, leading to complete regression of ALK-dependent tumors in vivo at well-tolerated doses. [1]

Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
