Garlic oil is a natural mixture of organosulfur compounds that acts as a chemopreventive agent by inducing phase II drug-metabolizing enzymes. It upregulates the expression of NAD(P)H:quinone oxidoreductase 1 (NQO-1), glutathione S-transferase alpha 1 (GSTA1), and heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1). These enzymatic inductions protect cells against oxidative damage and block tobacco carcinogen 4-(methylnitrosamino)-1-(3-pyridyl)-1-butanone (NNK)-induced lung tumorigenesis. [1]

Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
