Gallic acid is a naturally occurring phenolic acid and antioxidant compound that scavenges free radicals and modulates cellular signaling pathways. Treatment with gallic acid increases intracellular reactive oxygen species accumulation in cancer cell models, triggering mitochondrial dysfunction, caspase activation, and apoptotic cell death. Additionally, it downregulates pro-inflammatory mediators and inhibits cell proliferation through modulation of NF-kB and MAPK signaling pathways. [1]
