Biological Activity

Flavone is a naturally occurring backbone flavonoid compound that exhibits broad biological activities, including antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-tumor effects. It modulates key cellular signaling networks, such as NF-kB and MAPK pathways, leading to the suppression of pro-inflammatory mediator production and inhibition of cancer cell proliferation. Additionally, flavone demonstrates protective roles in cardiovascular and neurodegenerative disease models by scavenging reactive oxygen species and modulating cell survival pathways. [1]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
