Fidaxomicin is a narrow-spectrum macrocyclic antibiotic that acts as a potent inhibitor of bacterial RNA polymerase by targeting the sigma subunit. By binding to the RNA polymerase complex, it halts transcription initiation prior to promoter clearance and suppresses bacterial messenger RNA synthesis. - Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
