Biological Activity

FICZ is a high-affinity agonist of the aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AhR) with a Kd of. Activation of AhR by FICZ drives the gene expression of cytochrome P4501 (CYP1) enzymes, particularly CYP1A1, which in turn metabolize FICZ in an autoregulatory feedback loop. This signaling pathway regulates xenobiotic metabolism, mucosal immunity, and T helper 17 cell differentiation. [1][2]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
