Biological Activity
(+)-Falcarindiol is a cytotoxic and anti-inflammatory polyacetylenic oxylipin that functions as a partial agonist of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor γ (PPARγ) with an EC50 of 3.29 µM. Target activation upregulates the cholesterol transporter ABCA1 in cells, promoting a beige adipocyte-like phenotype and enhancing mitochondrial respiration in human preadipocyte-derived adipocytes.
