Ethosuximide is a succinimide anticonvulsant that acts as a low-threshold T-type calcium channel blocker. By selectively inhibiting voltage-gated T-type calcium channels, it reduces low-threshold calcium currents in thalamic relay neurons. This block attenuates low-threshold calcium spikes, dampening burst firing and rhythmic oscillatory discharges within thalamocortical neuronal networks, thereby suppressing pathological synchronization without broadly impairing normal high-threshold calcium signaling currents. - Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
Pre-aliquoted for Longevity: Solid-state aliquots offer significantly longer shelf life compared to stock solutions, ensuring maximum stability for every use.
