Molnupiravir (EIDD-2801) is an orally bioavailable prodrug of the ribonucleoside analog β-D-N4-hydroxycytidine with broad-spectrum antiviral activity against human coronaviruses, including SARS-CoV-2, MERS-CoV, and SARS-CoV. Upon intracellular phosphorylation to its active triphosphate derivative, the compound is incorporated into nascent viral RNA transcripts by viral RNA-dependent RNA polymerase. This incorporation causes catastrophic accumulation of mutations throughout the viral genome, ultimately blunting viral replication and reducing infectious viral titers. [1][2]

- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
