Biological Activity

Edoxaban (DU-176b) is an orally active, selective factor Xa (FXa) inhibitor that potently inhibits free FXa (Ki 0.561 nM) and prothrombinase complex (Ki 2.98 nM). By blocking FXa within the coagulation cascade, edoxaban prevents thrombin generation and subsequent fibrin clot formation. In animal models, it exerts strong antithrombotic effects, suppressing thrombus formation without markedly increasing bleeding risks. [1]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
