Biological Activity
DL-Glutamine is a racemic derivative of the non-essential amino acid glutamine, which acts as a crucial nutrient and building block in cellular metabolic pathways. It serves as an essential donor of nitrogen and carbon, supporting protein synthesis, nucleotide biosynthesis, and TCA cycle anaplerosis. By fueling cellular energetics and maintaining intracellular redox homeostasis, glutamine plays a vital role in sustaining cell growth and viability across various experimental models. [1]

Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
