Deoxyarbutin is a potent, reversible tyrosinase inhibitor with an IC50 of. By directly targeting tyrosinase, it blocks the rate-limiting enzyme in melanin biosynthesis. This inhibition decreases cellular melanin production and suppresses melanogenesis in melanocytes without inducing cytotoxicity. Consequently, deoxyarbutin acts as an effective skin-lightening agent, altering pigmentation pathways and cellular melanin accumulation in dermatological models. [1]
