Biological Activity

DCPIB is a potent inhibitor of volume-regulated anion channels (VRAC), blocking native I(Cl,swell) in CPAE cells with an IC50 of 4.1 μM, and a selective inhibitor of TRESK channels with an IC50 of 0.14 μM while also inhibiting TASK1 and TASK3 channels. By blocking swelling-activated anion currents and two-pore domain potassium channels, DCPIB modulates cell volume homeostasis, membrane potential, and cellular electrical activity.[1][2]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
