Daminozide is a plant growth regulator that acts as a selective inhibitor of human KDM2/7 histone demethylases, targeting PHF8, KDM2A, and KIAA1718. It displays over 100-fold selectivity for the KDM2/7 subfamily over other histone demethylases, exhibiting much weaker inhibition against KDM3A. By suppressing KDM2/7 activity, it modulates cellular histone methylation levels to regulate epigenetic gene expression and downstream signaling pathways. [1]

Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
