Dalcetrapib (JTT-705) is a cholesteryl ester transfer protein (CETP) inhibitor that targets CETP to modulate lipid transport. By inhibiting CETP-mediated transfer of cholesteryl esters, dalcetrapib increases plasma high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) levels and enhances pre-β-HDL formation. This inhibition promotes reverse cholesterol transport, leading to increased fecal excretion of neutral sterols and bile acids and suppressing atherosclerotic lesion development. [1]
