CORM-3 is a water-soluble carbon monoxide-releasing molecule that exhibits anti-inflammatory and cardioprotective activities. It attenuates lipopolysaccharide-induced inflammatory signaling in macrophages by suppressing pro-inflammatory cytokine production, including TNF-α and IL-1β, through modulation of NF-κB pathway activation. In cardiac tissue, CORM-3 reduces myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury and preserves mitochondrial function, leading to decreased infarct size and enhanced cell survival. [1][2]

Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
