Chlorzoxazone is a centrally acting skeletal muscle relaxant and a selective probe substrate for cytochrome P450 2E1 (CYP2E1). It undergoes 6-hydroxylation primarily catalyzed by CYP2E1 in human liver microsomes, making it useful for assessing CYP2E1 enzymatic activity. Additionally, chlorzoxazone acts as an activator of calcium-activated potassium channels, modulating neuronal excitability and promoting muscle relaxation through inhibition of polysynaptic reflex arcs.

- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
Pre-aliquoted for Longevity: Solid-state aliquots offer significantly longer shelf life compared to stock solutions, ensuring maximum stability for every use.
