Cedrol is a natural sesquiterpene alcohol that acts as a potent competitive inhibitor of CYP2B6-mediated bupropion hydroxylase (Ki 0.9 μM) and CYP3A4-mediated midazolam hydroxylation (Ki 3.4 μM). It also weakly inhibits CYP2C8, CYP2C9, and CYP2C19 activities. By modulating cytochrome P450 enzyme activity, cedrol alters hepatic drug metabolism and downstream xenobiotic clearance pathways.

Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
