Capreomycin Sulfate is a cyclic peptide antibiotic that acts as an inhibitor of bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 70S ribosomal unit. By targeting the ribosomal subunit interface, it disrupts translocation during mRNA translation and impairs polypeptide chain elongation. This disruption blocks essential protein production, resulting in potent antibacterial activity against susceptible bacterial pathogens including Mycobacterium tuberculosis.
