Biological Activity

MC903 (Calcipotriene) is a synthetic vitamin D3 analogue that acts as a potent agonist of the vitamin D receptor (VDR). By binding to VDR, MC903 regulates gene expression to suppress epidermal keratinocyte proliferation and promote cellular differentiation. Additionally, topical application of MC903 stimulates thymic stromal lymphopoietin (TSLP) expression in keratinocytes, modulating immune and inflammatory pathways in cutaneous tissue models. [1]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
