Biological Activity

Boceprevir is an orally bioavailable hepatitis C virus (HCV) protease inhibitor that targets the HCV NS3 serine protease with a Ki value of 14 nM. By reversibly binding to the active site of the NS3 protease, it blocks essential polyprotein cleavage required for viral maturation. This inhibition disrupts viral RNA replication complexes and suppresses HCV polyprotein processing in infected host cells. [1]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
