Bleomycin sulfate is a DNA synthesis inhibitor and glycopeptide antibiotic that functions as a potent anticancer agent. It chelates iron to form active complexes that react with molecular oxygen, generating superoxide and hydroxyl free radicals that induce single- and double-stranded DNA breaks. These reactive oxygen species trigger lipid peroxidation and inhibit cell proliferation, making bleomycin sulfate a widely used agent to induce experimental pulmonary fibrosis models. [1]

- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
Pre-aliquoted for Longevity: Solid-state aliquots offer significantly longer shelf life compared to stock solutions, ensuring maximum stability for every use.
