Biological Activity

Benzoylaconine (Benzoylaconitine) is an aconitum alkaloid derived from Radix Aconiti Lateralis Preparata that functions as an anti-inflammatory agent. In human synovial cells, benzoylaconine attenuates IL-1β-induced pro-inflammatory responses by suppressing the production of interleukin-6 (IL-6) and interleukin-8 (IL-8). This inhibitory effect is mediated through downregulation of the MAPK, AKT, and NF-κB signaling pathways, leading to reduced inflammatory cascade activation. [1]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
