Biological Activity

Azvudine (RO- is a nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor that potently inhibits HIV-1 (EC50 range 0.03 to 6.92 nM) and HIV-2 (EC50 range 0.018 to 0.025 nM). By targeting viral reverse transcriptase, it blocks viral reverse transcription and suppresses viral replication, demonstrating antiviral activity against human immunodeficiency virus, hepatitis B virus, and hepatitis C virus. Furthermore, azvudine retains inhibitory activity against nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor-resistant HIV-1 strains. [1]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
