Biological Activity

Azilsartan Medoxomil (TAK-491) is a potent angiotensin II type 1 (AT1) receptor antagonist (IC50 2.6 nM) that inhibits the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAAS), exhibiting >10,000-fold selectivity over the AT2 receptor. By targeting AT1 receptors, it attenuates angiotensin II-mediated signaling pathways, resulting in the suppression of vascular smooth muscle contraction and inhibition of vasoconstriction. [1]

Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
