Amenamevir (ASP2151) is an orally active antiviral agent that functions as a potent herpesvirus helicase-primase inhibitor. By targeting the viral helicase-primase complex, it suppresses viral DNA replication by disrupting DNA unwinding and primer synthesis. This inhibition effectively blocks the replication of herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1), type 2 (HSV-2), and varicella-zoster virus (VZV). [1]

Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
