Biological Activity

Amarogentin is a natural secoiridoid glycoside that acts as a potent agonist of human bitter taste receptors, including TAS2R1. Activation of TAS2R signaling pathways by amarogentin modulates intracellular signaling cascades, contributing to its reported anti-inflammatory and anti-proliferative cellular responses. Additionally, amarogentin suppresses cancer cell growth by regulating key pathways such as PI3K/Akt, resulting in G2/M cell cycle arrest and induction of apoptosis. [1]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
