Biological Activity

Adenosine Cyclophosphate (cyclic AMP) is a key intracellular second messenger that regulates diverse physiological processes by activating protein kinase A (PKA) and exchange proteins directly activated by cAMP (EPAC). Activation of the PKA and EPAC signaling pathways modulates downstream effectors involved in cardiac contractility, vascular tone, and cellular energy metabolism. Consequently, cyclic AMP plays a fundamental role in improving myocardial hypoxia and promoting coronary vasodilation. [1][2]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
